Work Plans
Main Street Corydon has three active committees and a dedicated board of directors. Together they have established goals for this year.
Here is a quick look at those goals:
Board of Directors
Goal 1: Communicate our Vision and Plans
Design Committee
Shape the physical appearance/image of downtown; Manage façade improvement program; Encourage excellence in design, from landscaping to window displays.
Goal 1: Continue to host Umuganda Corydon (Day of Community Service), last Saturday of each month, 9 to noon, with goals of community beautification and team building
Entrepreneurial Committee
Attract and retain downtown businesses; Encourage entrepreneurs
Goal 1: Host building owners luncheon
Promotions Committee
Market downtown as the hub of commerce, culture and community life; plan key downtown events
Goal 1: Manage three key events: fundraise, secure chairs of subcommittees, recruit volunteers, encourage long-term sustainability

Board of Directors
Goal 1: Communicate our Vision and Plans
- Create Annual Report with accomplishments and sponsors recognition
- Hold meetings with key donors (each board member schedule two meetings)
- Communicate well with all audiences: Town of Corydon, Downtown Merchants, Building Owners, County leaders, committees, volunteers, partner organizations
- Identify means to measure success this year: attraction of grants, local investment in community (ie: façade improvements), decrease vacancy rate downtown, Stellar benchmarks
- Work with local merchants and building owners to identify any barriers to economic development and work with Town of Corydon in developing solutions
- Work with Town of Corydon and leaders on Stellar projects
- Continue board thank you notes
- Catherine keep board informed of key contributions by committee members and community partners
- Board members continue to participate in committee meetings and encourage volunteers
- Add Tuesday, 11 am to 1 pm and add SNAP
- Increase vendor participation and customer attendance
- Continue to employ young adult intern
Design Committee

Goal 1: Continue to host Umuganda Corydon (Day of Community Service), last Saturday of each month, 9 to noon, with goals of community beautification and team building
- Work with Master Gardeners on Planter project (April 29)
- Concentrate on landscaping to match the library
- Secure sponsor for each landscape island; recognize donors with plaque
- Encourage community volunteers
- Work with building owners and tenants to assure that Main Street Corydon Architectural Guidelines are met
- Work with Limeberry Lumber to select color palette for historic downtown Corydon
- Administer grant funds of $50,000 from CEDIT for 2017
- Secure additional funds
- Host window display workshop
- Continue Christmas window display competition
- Start summer window display competition (after workshop)
- Create model seating area at Kent Java
- Assist other restaurants in establishing outdoor seating

- Share resources with merchants (Raving Fans and other books)

- Summer/Fall: Update Directory Map with new merchants; create next year’s calendar of events
- Promote to merchants and customers
- Fundraise for its continuance
